Wyatt at 5 Days Old

Today we visited our little guy and he continues to do well. He is eating well, he has gained the few ounces that he lost and is pretty much back to his birth weight. His blood work is coming back normal each time they take it, so the antibiotics are working. The doctor believes he got a bacteria infection during labor. They want him to get the full 7 days of antibotics even if it has cleared after 3-4 days. He has a little bit of jaundice but nothing that is keeping him there in NICU. It is slowly going down each day. The nurses love him and say he is an easy baby, lets hope that continues when we take him home. We can not wait to bring him home!! Please continue to pray for our little guy. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that we have recieved throughout the past week. They have been heard and we are blessed to have such wonderul family and friends. Take care!!

More Christmas Pics

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! This morning Ryan and I started off our morning with a Christmas breakfast and then got ready to head down to wish our son a Merry Christmas. Wyatt is doing great, he was moved to a crib yesterday and held his temperature up through the night. His blood work has been coming back great each time. They did a second spinal tap yesterday and it came back negative. The doctor was concerned that since I was given an antibotic during labor for a fever that it may have been transported to Wyatt and that can possible give the test a negative result. But, they did a second one and it is fine. We talked with the doctor today and said Wyatt is doing well and we will look forward to bringing him home on Tuesday. Please continue to pray that he stays strong and healthy. I have attached a few pictures from this morning. Have a great day!!!

Update on Wyatt

Most of you know that yesterday mid morning we found out that Wyatt needed to be transfered to the NICU for some blood work and observation. The night he was born I ran a fever of 101.7 and was put on antibotics during labor. Wyatt ran a little fever as well. We kept him in the nursery that night and they noticed he could not keep his temperature and it was borderline at 97.4 to 97.8, they want it to be no lower than 97.6. Our pediatrician decided to have some blood work taken and it came back elevated in his white blood cells. He was then transfered to the NICU for more blood work and a spinal tap. He has been on antibotics since then. He has kept his temperature good. All his other vital signs are perfect according to the nurses. They said that durning labor he has caught an infection and will need to be treated for a minumium of 3 days but he could be up here for 7 more days. I know our little guy is going to be okay but it hurts so badly inside for Ryan and I. I now know what a mother's love is for her own child and I can see the same thing in Ryan. It hurts to see him like this and know that you can not do anything to help your child but to let the doctors do their job. You can tell he knows when we are there to visit him and it is so amazing to see how much just talking to him and rubbing his back or head and he knows we are there through this for him and love him so much. We just want our son to get well so we can take him home to love on him. We should find out some more news this morning. We are about to head down to NICU to visit him. We are being discharged today but they are going to wait as long as they can. Please keep us all in your prayers and thank you everyone for the calls and well wishes. I am sorry if I have been short or did not return calls, it has been crazy and hard for me at times to try to talk to anyone.

Our Sweet Wyatt is Here!!!!

WOW!!! We are so blessed and overwhelmed with this gift from God. Words can not explain the love I have for this child. We welcomed Wyatt into the world on Monday, December 21st,2009 at 7:23p.m. He measured 22.5" long and 7 pounds 2 oz. The day started with some consistent contractions early Monday morning at 1:45a.m. I woke Ryan up to give him a heads up and we sat around the house and had breakfast before calling the doctor at about 4:30a.m. He said to come in and they got us hooked up to a monitor. I was only 1.5CM and 70% effaced. The contractions were about 5-8 minutes apart at that time. My doctor came in to visit before a C-Section and said to go ahead and stay here to be induced. We got started and did not break my water until around 8a.m. About each hour I was dilating a CM, which was great progress. I quickly went from 6CM to 9CM and then it was pushing from there. I pushed for 2 hours and my doctor decided to have Wyatt delivered with forceps or have an immediate C-Section. Wyatt was "sunny side up" and would NOT move at all. I did not want a C-Section at all unless I had too. I have been told from the five nurses in my room that Dr. Johnson is the best doctor to have deliver your baby with forceps. I trust my doctor with anything beacuse he has two daughters my age and I know he would not but me in a situation that would jeopardize me or Wyatt.
Wyatt is doing great!! Ryan is an awesome father, he is so hands on and I am very suprised the way this little guy has changed both of us!!!

Very Soon......

Hello Everyone!!! Ryan and I had our 39 week appointment this morning and we finally got some news. I have progressed some, I am 1CM dilated and 50% effaced. My doctor would like me to progress a little bit more before he induces me. So, we have set a tentative date of Dec. 22nd to be induced. Two days after my due date!! I have another appointment on Monday to see how much or if we have progressed further. We are all ready to go to the hospital!! Wyatt can come at anytime. I dont think we will make it that far but you never know. I have definitely been feeling a change in things since I left the doctor this morning. Hopefully the next time I blog I will have some pictures to share of our little boy. Take care and please keep us in your prayers!!! Oh, doctor thinks Wyatt is measuring about 7.5 pounds as of now so hopefully he wont be bigger than that. I was expecting a 9 pounder, so I am a little relieved.

Waiting.......

Yesterday afternoon I had my 37 week appointment and there is still nothing going on. I am not even effaced at all! I am starting to think that maybe Wyatt does want to stay warm and cozy for as long as he can. I know I still have 3 weeks left and my doctor is trying to make me realize that but I just want there to be something. He will not schedule me to be induced until there is something going on. He mentioned that about 10% of first time moms go over their due date so that did not help at all yesterday. I wanted to cry! He does not want to me to be induced if there is nothing going on until after my due date which is the 20th. I just want my baby boy here for Christmas more than anything. If that means we have Christmas on the 27th, then we will have our Christmas then. But, we dont want to forget the real meaning of Christmas and that is the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. God has blessed us with this baby and we know he has a plan already planned for his birth. So, Ryan and I are just waiting to see what happens. In the meantime I am still going to keep my bags packed and ready to go, cause I have heard of people going into labor at anytime even after being told the same thing. We would love to have our baby boy here as quickly as possible but we want more to have a healthy baby that is ready to come when he wants to, plus I do have three more weeks! I go back to the doctor next week and will keep you all updated.
